Coco Chanel's childhood was quite an ordeal since she was orphaned at the age of 12 and her father abandoned the family. After her mother's death, Coco learned to sew at the local orphanage. Years later, Coco got her nickname from her brief singing career in cafes, where she performed a song called "Who's Seen Coco?" Coco started her fashion career with a small hat shop, which eventually expanded into clothing and accessories that became popular for the iconic designs. Coco Chanel revolutionized women's fashion by introducing comfortable, practical clothing like the Chanel suit that featured a collarless jacket and a well-fitted skirt, offering a blend of elegance and comfort. Her timeless and versatile little black dress that she introduced in 1926, revolutionized women's fashion. Coco Chanel was also Perfume pioneer. Her legendary perfume Chanel No. 5, launched in 1921, was the first perfume to bear a designer's name and remains a best-seller to this day. World War II raised some controversy in Coco Chanel’s biography after she was accused of collaborating with the Nazis. After a period of exile in Switzerland, she made a successful comeback in the 1950s, reestablishing her brand as a fashion powerhouse.
