Fashionistas Level 15

Vivienne Westwood, a British fashion designer, was born on April 8, 1941, in Tintwistle, Derbyshire, England. Surprisingly, before becoming a renowned fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood worked as a primary school teacher. She initially had no formal training in fashion and only started designing clothes when she met her partner, Malcolm McLaren, in the early 1970s. In 1971, she opened her first boutique, "Let It Rock," on London's Kings Road with her then-partner, Malcolm McLaren, who later became the manager of the punk rock band, the Sex Pistols. Vivienne Westwood caused controversy in 1977 when she and Malcolm, designed the infamous "Sex Pistols" band's provocative clothing, featuring bondage-inspired designs and anti-establishment slogans. The shop went through several name changes, including "Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die," "SEX," and "Seditionaries," before finally becoming "World's End" in 1980. In the 1980s, Westwood's style evolved, drawing inspiration from historical clothing and blending it with modern elements. This led to the creation of her iconic "mini-crini" and "pirate" collections. She continued to push boundaries and challenge conventional fashion norms throughout her career. Vivienne Westwood has received numerous accolades for her contributions to the fashion industry, including being named British Designer of the Year in 1990 and 1991, and receiving an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 1992. Today, her brand remains influential and continues to produce innovative designs in clothing, accessories, and fragrances. Worked as a primary school teacher
