Fashionistas Level 2

Christian Dior was a French fashion designer, born on January 21, 1905, in Granville, France. He is best known for revolutionizing the fashion industry with his "New Look" collection presented in 1947, which featured feminine, elegant designs with full skirts and cinched waists. His innovative approach to fashion made him one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. Even in his youth, Christian Dior was already marked by his passion for art. Despite his family's expectations for him to pursue a diplomatic career, Dior followed his artistic inclinations and opened an art gallery in Paris in the late 1920s. This gallery showcased works of famous artists like Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Dior worked as a fashion illustrator and designer for several fashion houses, including Robert Piguet and Lucien Lelong, before starting his own brand. In 1946, he established the House of Dior that expanded globally with boutiques and licensed products in many countries worldwide and still remains one of the world's top fashion houses. Dior is renowned for inventing the concept of "total look," where clothing, accessories, and cosmetics were designed to complement each other. He was also a mentor and inspiration for the future fashion icons, such as Yves Saint Laurent, who began his career at Dior. Christian Dior passed away on October 24, 1957, in Montecatini, Italy. His legacy continues through the Christian Dior brand, which remains a leading name in the fashion industry, producing luxury clothing, accessories, and fragrances. Was a french fashion designer
