They are also known for their unique vocalizations, which consist of low-frequency sounds that can travel long distances through the water. These vocalizations are used for communication and are an important way for Fin whales to stay in contact with one another. Another interesting fact about Fin whales is that they are a baleen whale species, meaning that they filter their food from the water using bristle-like structures called baleen plates.
