The Transport layer was set to be responsible for end-to-end communication between devices. The Internet layer was set up to handle the routing and addressing of data packets. Link layer deals with the physical connection between devices, such as Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or cellular networks. The World Wide Web (WWW) was introduced in 1989 by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, a British computer scientist working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research. He proposed a system for using hypertext, which led to the creation of the first web browser, web server, and HTML (Hypertext Markup Language).
